5-Star Academy, Guiding Kids Toward Their Inner Star
5-Star Academy of Performing Arts is an extensive and professional theatrical training ground for youth. This educational program, run by Educational Director and Artistic Associate, Tal Fox, fosters connections between theatre performance and the Conejo Valley/Ventura County community.
We aim to introduce children and teens to professional theatre and give them the opportunity to develop into skilled actors for theater productions and beyond! Through work in the classroom, onstage, and in the community, we strive to develop future theatre leaders by offering a program led by industry professionals.
In addition to offering ongoing classes each session, 5-Star offers Master Classes with working actors, choreographers, casting directors, agents/managers, musical directors, etc. providing kids and teens in the community an opportunity for top-notch expert feedback.

CLASSES OFFERED – FALL 2019
MUSICAL THEATER TECHNIQUE (ages 6-18)
Musical Theater Technique focuses on expanding a deeper, more precise understanding of the student’s acting ability and development of his/her acting skills in a song. This class is split into a Beginner class for ages 6-10 and an Intermediate/Advanced class for ages 10-18. All students should be comfortable learning material outside of class. Students will be assigned songs appropriate to their age and development, and workshop it over 12 weeks. Each student will have the opportunity to perform and observe other students during each class. Throughout the session, a guest from the entertainment industry (actor, choreographer, musical director, agent, etc.) will attend to provide feedback.
PERFORMANCE CLASS (ages 6-13)
This beginner/intermediate level performance class is for students ages 6-13. In addition to learning group musical theater numbers, each student will be assigned at least one solo, duet, or intimate group number to showcase his/her skills. Choreography will be intertwined into group numbers and acting technique will be emphasized. A performance for family/friends will be at the end of the session. This class runs for 11 weeks, with a performance on the final class.
PRIVATE VOICE LESSONS
We offer individual voice lessons for students, ages 6 to adult. We have a few instructors available, to be scheduled at our rehearsal studio, the instructor’s private studio, or at the student’s home.
PRIVATE ACTING COACHING, AUDITION PREP, AND SELF-TAPING
We offer one-on-one coaching to prep for auditions or to work on your acting skills. In addition, we coach and tape actors for auditions, edit the final video, and send you or your agents the file, as needed.

Tal Fox
The 5-Star Academy of Performing Arts is run by Educational Director and Artistic Associate, Tal Fox. Tal has worked professionally for more than 10 years in the entertainment and education industries. She holds a bachelor’s in fine arts in musical theatre and a bachelor’s degree in communications from Pace University in New York City, and has lectured and taught across the United States at schools, acting programs and theaters. In her five years as a talent agent at Kazarian/Measures/Ruskin & Associates she ran the bi-coastal (Los Angeles/New York) Equity/Theater department and developed the Youth TV/Film/Theater department. She has advanced many careers and put a multitude of actors on Broadway, in television and film, in national tours and in regional theater productions. Tal has experience performing, casting (credits include Center Theatre Group, Kirk Douglas Theatre, Theatre @ Boston Court, Bleecker St. Theatre in NYC…), theater tech, and in producing (with Broadway theater producer, Ken Davenport, as well as The Rockwell and The Lounge Theater in Los Angeles). With all of these resources, she brings an extremely high quality of understanding of both acting technique and business savvy to her students.
